Several vehicles are also equipped with the Platescan technology. This technology allows officers to efficiently scan license plates using multiple cameras connected to a computer. The cameras are mounted on the exterior of the vehicle and work while stationary or in motion. The computer quickly cross references the scanned license plates with multiple databases to check for outstanding warrants, stolen status, and sex offender status.
